A beginner’s guide to meditation

Meditation is a practice and can become easier with time and practice.

Honour where you’re at each day and be gentle with yourself.

If you find your mind has a lot of chatter, or starts to wander, try a guided meditation like this one here.

Start by creating a calm and relaxing place where you will not be disturbed for your practice. Choose a time and day that feels good for you. Start with a few minutes and work your way up.

Some of my fave beginner meditations are:

  • Focusing on your breath

Start by breathing in to the count of 3, 4, 5, or 6. Hold for the same amount, exhale for the same amount and hold for the same amount. Ex: Inhale for the count of 4, hold for the count of 4, exhale for the count of 4, hold for the count of 4, repeat until your timer goes off. Start with 3-5 minutes.

  • Shower Meditation

When you are in the shower, imagine the day washing down your body and into the drain with the water. Fully embody the shower, enjoying the scents of your body wash, shampoo and conditioner, giving yourself a nice massage and just being with yourself the entire time.

  • Walking Meditation

Go outside and start to walk. As you walk, notice EVERYTHING. Walk slowly, breathe deeply and notice what you may not have noticed before.

What can you see?

What can you smell?

What do you feel?

Let me know below which one your chose and how it worked out for you.

Lots of love!
